You love your dog, but the barking, pulling, jumping, and constant second guessing are wearing you both down. With supportive online dog training courses, you don’t have to figure this out alone.

Does This Sound Familiar?

Jumping on guests. You love your dog’s enthusiasm, but their greetings might be overwhelming or uninvited. You want to teach polite alternatives without squashing their joy.

Dragging you down the street. Walks should be bonding time, not a battle with the leash. You’d like your dog to walk with you, not pull toward every distraction in sight.

Ignoring cues like “sit” or “wait” You’ve tried asking, but your dog seems unsure or too distracted to follow through. You’re not alone in wondering, “Am I doing this right?”

Pulling toward dogs or distractions. It’s hard to stay focused when squirrels, smells, or new dogs show up. You want to support your dog in choosing to stay connected to you, even in exciting environments.

Barking out the window. You appreciate your dog’s alertness, but constant barking wears everyone down. You’re ready to gently teach when to observe and when to settle.

Difficulty during brushing or nail trims. Grooming shouldn’t feel like a struggle. You’d love for your dog to feel safe and relaxed during handling, vet visits, and home care.

Not coming when called. You want your dog to turn to you when you call. Whether you’re in the house or out on a walk, recall helps your dog stay connected and makes daily life more manageable. It builds trust and supports working together as a team.

Getting too wound up or overstimulated.  You see your dog go from calm to chaotic in seconds, and you’re not sure how to help them regulate their energy and emotions.

Uncertainty about what to train, and how. There is plenty of advice out there but most of it feels scattered or conflicting. You need a plan that is consistent, kind, and created by someone who understands how dogs learn and how real life works.

“Tonya’s kind support and wise words guided me through. Armed with tips and tricks, and baby steps, I gained my confidence back and Scarlett gained hers.” Sherry

Positive online dog training courses for dog parents focused on trust-building and relationship-based methods
Online Dog Trainer, Tonya Wilhelm & Stewart

Meet Your Dog Training Coach

Hi, I’m Tonya. I’ve been a professional dog trainer for nearly 30 years, with a focus on positive reinforcement and relationship-based methods. Over the years, I’ve taught everything from puppy foundations to therapy dog prep, behavior support, and enrichment-based learning. I’ve led service dog programs, built and run my own training center, and worked with thousands of families in group classes and one-on-one coaching.

Today, I create online courses and resources that make training feel doable, kind, and centered on building a strong bond between you and your dog. I also offer phone and Skype coaching for families everywhere, along with a limited number of private in-person sessions locally.

My goal is to help you understand your dog, feel confident in what you’re teaching, and enjoy the life you’re building together.

Help your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel build calm routines, life skills, and confidence through positive training. #CavalierGiftsYou can teach these skills and feel proud of what you and your dog accomplish together

You and your dog will start to feel more in sync as you learn together. With each step, you’ll create more connection, more confidence, and more moments you truly enjoy together. Your dog will feel supported and successful, and you’ll feel proud of how far you’ve come. These changes begin right where you already are, at home, on your walks, and in the moments you share each day.

In the Manners, Life Skills and Foundation Course, I will help you teach the things that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable for both of you. You will get a complete plan that is easy to follow and made for the way dogs and people actually live and learn together. The lessons are actionable, the guidance is gentle, and the progress feels doable.

You will see me teaching Stewart in the video lessons so you can watch how learning happens in real time. I will show you how I introduce each skill, how I adjust to meet Stewart’s needs, and how I modify my goals and steps when things don’t go as planned. These lessons let you follow along as we learn together, just like you and your dog will.

Discover positive training that makes daily life easier. Teach your dog manners, build trust, and enjoy the strong bond you’ve always wanted.
From barking to calm walks—teach manners and life skills that transform frustration into teamwork while building lasting trust with your dog.

With this course, you’ll get:

Easy-to-follow video lessons. Each skill is broken into small, achievable steps you can practice at your own pace.

“She has just about every means to learn from video, one on one and files for later reference. She is not only very knowledgeable but fun and caring.” — Jerriann

Lessons where I teach Stewart and coach you at the same time. You will see me training with Stewart in the video lessons as I guide him through each step, adjusting as needed, responding in the moment, and showing you what learning actually looks like as it happens.

Downloadable plans to guide your practice. Use them to stay on track, build momentum, and feel confident about what to do next.

Lifetime access. Come back to the lessons anytime. Rewatch, review, and keep learning together.

Encouragement and support directly from me. Have a question? Need a nudge? I’m here to help you and cheer you on.

The option to upload your training videos for feedback. You’re never doing this alone. I’ll watch and offer suggestions that support your progress.

Together, We’ll Build:

A dog who chooses to walk beside you. When your dog understands that walking with you leads to good things, walks become easier, more peaceful, and something you both enjoy.

Building patience and the ability to pause. Your dog begins to slow down and take a breath before moving into the next thing. That pause makes everyday moments like greetings, meals, or transitions feel more predictable and less rushed for both of you.

Connection even in busy places. Instead of getting swept up in every distraction, your dog starts to check in with you more often. That moment of eye contact or pause at your side helps you both stay connected even when the world around you is full of movement.

Polite greetings with people. Greetings start to feel calmer and more manageable. Your dog begins to understand how to say hello without jumping, and you have simple ways to guide those moments without stress.

Confidence during handling and grooming. Brushing, nail care, and vet visits start to feel less tense. Your dog learns to feel more at ease being touched and handled, and you both gain confidence working through those moments together.

Recall even in challenging environments. Coming when called becomes something your dog enjoys and understands. You build it through positive experiences, turning recall into a routine that feels natural and rewarding for both of you.

A shared language that builds trust.  You’ll learn how to read your dog, communicate clearly, and support their learning in a way that deepens your bond.

Daily enrichment and bonding time. Beyond training, you’ll discover how to meet your dog’s mental and emotional needs through games, sniffing, and interactive play.

More enjoyment—for both of you. This course is about making life easier and more joyful. When you understand your dog, and they understand you, everything starts to flow.

“This This was a great class on what to expect from both the trainer and the dog. The training tips are clear and concise and easy to navigate. Watching Stewart’s advancements are amazing too. As a rescue, I believe this would be a great tool for new adopters. The way you present is easy to understand and follow. I definitely think you’d be great at helping Rescue’s navigate through their issues not only with puppies, but older dogs that have never lived inside before or losing their owners. Thank you!” Patti

The PDF offers simple strategies you can use right away to prevent meltdowns and bring more balance into your day.

Noise Sensitivity and Sound Confidence. This workshop focuses on noise sensitivity and how to help your dog feel safer around sounds like fireworks, thunder, sirens, or construction. You’ll learn about gradual desensitization, using positive pairings, and how to recognize when your dog is ready to move forward or needs more space. The printable guide walks you through each step, what sounds to start with, how to set up training, and how to handle real-life noise moments without pushing your dog too far.

Meeting Daily Needs Beyond Just Exercise. This bonus video lesson shows you how to support your dog’s physical, mental, and emotional needs in a way that fits into your day. You’ll learn how to create a daily activity that blends enrichment, rest, and connection. I’ll walk you through what those needs really look like and how to meet them without adding more stress to your routine. The printable PDF breaks everything down into simple, actionable steps so you can build habits that help your dog feel satisfied and engaged.

Potty Training Foundations That Actually Work. This is your step-by-step approach to potty training, grounded in realistic expectations and positive reinforcement. You’ll learn how to manage your puppy’s space, recognize potty signals, and use consistency to build reliable habits. The PDF includes tips on crate sizing, cue-based pottying, and how to transition across locations and stages of training. Whether you’re just starting or troubleshooting, this lesson helps you avoid frustration and focus on setting your dog up for success.

“I just thought I knew how to train my dog. My new pup, Scarlett, quickly humbled me and brought me to my knees. Tonya’s kind support and wise words guided me through. Armed with tips and tricks, and baby steps, I gained my confidence back and Scarlett gained hers. I never dreamed I’d be able to do the things we’re doing these days. We’ve made huge strides just in the past 3 months. The doctor had put her on calming meds, but after 3 months of working with her under Tonya guidance, she’s no longer needing medication. It’s been a real comfort to me to have someone in my corner to guide me with this wild child who’s actually become much more fun and less work, something that I thought would not happen. Tonya’s passion for what she does shines through in every course, every video.” Sherry
